In a deeply unsettling development, Brigham Young University (BYU) senior baseball pitcher, Candon Dahle, has been arrested on charges of lewdness involving a child. The 23-year-old athlete was taken into custody by Provo police on February 7, 2025, and booked into the Utah County Jail under a no-bail order.

Following his arrest in Utah, Dahle was extradited to Idaho, where he faces further charges. In Fremont County, he has been charged with felony lewd conduct with a child under 16 years old. Court documents allege that Dahle sexually assaulted an 11-year-old on or about January 1, 2022, during which he reportedly placed his hand over the victim’s mouth. A $50,000 bond was set, accompanied by a no-contact order for the victim. Dahle is expected to appear for a preliminary hearing on February 26. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.
Additionally, Dahle faces charges in Bingham County related to a juvenile case involving felony lewd conduct with a minor under sixteen. This pertains to allegations of sexual assault committed when Dahle was a young teenager. After his extradition from Utah, Dahle posted bail in Bingham County and was subsequently released.

In light of these developments, BYU Media Relations Manager Todd Hollingshead confirmed that Dahle is no longer enrolled at the university. Dahle had first enrolled at BYU in 2024 after transferring from the College of Southern Idaho.
