Vandegrift High School seniors Brendan Fournier and Adam Scott were recently honored as the Texas Offensive and Defensive Football Players of the Week, respectively, for their outstanding performances between December 18 and 21.
Fournier, a dynamic running back, led his team to a hard-fought victory in the Class 6A Division II championship, rushing for 160 yards on 28 carries, including a touchdown, as Vandegrift triumphed 24-17 over Southlake Carroll. His performance helped secure the title for his team and earned him the prestigious Offensive Player of the Week title, as he garnered 56.4 percent of the vote, surpassing South Oak Cliff’s Mikail Trotter, who received 29.21 percent.
Meanwhile, Scott, who has been a key force for Vandegrift’s defense all season, played a crucial role in the championship win. The senior linebacker finished with nine tackles, including one for a loss, and forced a fumble, showcasing his ability to disrupt the opposition’s offense. His stellar play earned him the Defensive Player of the Week honor with 52.06 percent of the vote, narrowly beating Carthage’s Carson Crawford, who received 31.45 percent.
The voting for these awards was highly competitive, with over 50,000 votes cast in the offensive category and more than 25,000 votes in the defensive poll.

Rodriguez played a pivotal role in Celina’s victory over Kilgore, catching five passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns.
4. Bryce Ullman (Senior, Ganado) – 0.45%
Ullman led his team to a triple-overtime win against Stamford, throwing for 172 yards and two touchdowns while also running for 48 yards and the game-winning two-point conversion.
