In the wake of Chip Kelly’s move to the NFL, Ohio State has elevated Brian Hartline, its wide receivers coach, to the position of offensive coordinator. The promotion, announced on Wednesday afternoon, signals a significant step in Hartline’s coaching career.
Although he was first named offensive coordinator two years ago, Hartline has yet to take on the role of primary play-caller. Now, fresh off a national championship victory, he may be stepping into that responsibility for the first time.

Chris Henry Jr., son of the late NFL receiver Chris Henry, committed to Ohio State in July 2023. While he has continued visiting other schools—recently being spotted in Oregon gear—his commitment to the Buckeyes remains strong.
Reacting to Hartline’s promotion, Henry expressed confidence in the decision. “I love this move,” he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “Coach Hartline knows how to develop receivers better than anyone, and now with him as OC, I know he’s going to put us receivers in the best position to dominate for sure.”
Henry ranks as the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which aggregates ratings from major recruiting services. He is the top-ranked receiver in the class and the highest-rated player from California.

He recorded a 4.65-second 40-yard dash at Under Armour’s Ohio Camp, showcasing his speed. Although not particularly long-limbed for his height, he compensates with impressive ball skills and a solid catch radius.
