Ohio State did exactly what they set out to do since the loss to Oregon in October, which was to get revenge since they would likely see each other again.
It didn’t happen in the Big Ten Championship like we all had thought they would. Ohio State got the best of Oregon at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California . The Buckeyes got out to a 34-0 lead over the Ducks and held on for the 41-21 victory to move on to the semifinals against Texas.
Ohio State took down the No. 1 team in dominant fashion and they looked like the best team in the nation in just about every aspect along the way.
Since the loss to Michigan to end the regular season, Ohio State has been on a terror in the college football playoff. One may think that miss was the best thing to happen for Ohio State, it at least looks like it right now. It especially would if the Buckeyes go on to win a National Championship.
“At the end of the day, we wanted to win a national championship. The way we got here wasn’t what we expected,” Ohio State’s Ryan Day said after the game . “It wasn’t what we planned for. Nonetheless, we got the opportunity to come back and play Oregon after we had already played them earlier in the season. That’s the only thing that mattered.”
Ohio State put up 500 yards of offense while holding Oregon to 276 yards. Less than two weeks after beating Tennessee, Ohio State looked even better against Oregon.
Texas is going to be no easy task for the Buckeyes. Arizona State pushed them to the ropes, but the Longhorns are a dangerous team with athletes to match up with Ohio State.
Ohio State will celebrate the win over the Big Ten Champions for a short moment, then it is on to prepare for Texas. Losing to Michigan is the worst for folks in Columbus, but they would be okay with trading it for a National Championship.
