An unsigned forward is reportedly closing in on a deal to join Collingwood as he passes ‘required medical assessments’.

St Kilda veteran Tim Membrey is said to have undergone a successful medical at Pies headquarters in hopes of adding tall depth to a forward-line in need of it.

The 30-year-old has played 179 games across 12 seasons in Saints and Swans colours but remains without a 2025 contract.

The Gippsland product is expected to join the Magpies as a delisted free agent, reports Seven’s Mitch Cleary on Friday morning, who said it is ‘now a formality’ that Membrey will don black and white.

Membrey played 19 games for the Saints this year and managed an average of 1.6 goals per game — the same as his career average — to go with 5.2 marks per game.

The imposing forward bolsters a Collingwood attacking brigade headlined by Dan McStay and Brody Mihocek, with the smaller Jamie Elliott, Bobby Hill and Lachie Schultz also wreaking havoc.

McStay managed five senior matches this year after heroically recovering from a serious pre-season knee injury, while Mihocek played 11 games after rupturing his pectoral tendon in July.

In the trade and free agency period, the Pies made waves in their hunt to return to premiership contention after finishing 2024 ninth, adding ex-GWS utility Harry Perryman and former Port Adelaide dual All-Australian Dan Houston.

They currently hold Picks 52, 55 and 58 at November’s national draft.

The delisted free agency window opens on November 1.
