On Friday night, August 30, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever squared off against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky for the final time in the 2024 WNBA regular season. The Fever had already claimed victory in two of their previous three matchups against the Sky, setting the stage for another highly anticipated showdown.
Clark, who has consistently been the most electrifying playmaker in the league this season, didn’t disappoint. Leading the WNBA in assists with an average of 8.1 per game, she’s on track to break the record for the most assists in a single season.
During the game against the Sky, Clark once again left fans and analysts stunned with her court vision and passing ability. With just 1:30 remaining in the first quarter, she grabbed the ball on defense and sprinted down the court. As she crossed the half-court line, Clark delivered a pinpoint, one-handed bounce pass between two defenders, threading the needle perfectly to a streaking Temi Fagbenle, who easily converted the layup.
Though Fagbenle may have gotten away with a travel while executing the layup, it was Clark’s extraordinary assist that stole the spotlight. The play immediately went viral, with fans flooding social media to praise her incredible skill.
“Caitlin Clark WHAT A PASS,” one fan tweeted, capturing the collective amazement over the play.

This assist added to Clark’s already historic rookie season. She now holds the WNBA rookie record for the most assists in a season, surpassing the previous mark with ease. Earlier in the year, Clark made headlines by breaking the single-game record for assists with an astonishing 19 during a game against the Dallas Wings on July 17. She also became the first rookie in WNBA history to record ten assists in an All-Star game, further solidifying her status as one of the league’s brightest young stars.
Clark’s remarkable vision and playmaking ability have not only elevated her game but have also made the Indiana Fever a formidable force as they continue to chase a playoff spot. With each game, she continues to prove why she’s one of the most exciting talents in the WNBA, leaving fans eager to see what she’ll do next.
